Hello In this update, we're looking at clinical negligence actions. You'll also find out what we've been doing lately to support charities in our 150th year.
2021 marks a significant milestone in the growth of Fieldings Porter as one of the top legal firms in the UK. This year we celebrate 150 years of providing solid legal support to communities in the North West and nationwide.
WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO! MATTHEW HAS BEEN A BUSY BEAR TOO! • Fieldings Porter's Beth Talbot walked 10,000 steps for the My Memories Walk in aid of
Bolton Hospice. The firm sponsored Beth £100, with all funds going to the hospice.
• Matthew delivered cards and gifts donated by the partners at Fieldings Porter for the children at Caritas Mother and Baby Unit to give to their daddies on Father's Day.
• Matthew delivered cupcake making kits to Out There, Fortalice Bolton, Caritas Mother and Baby Unit and Bury Community Hub and Food Bank, for
distribution to the children of the families they support to enjoy on national cupcake day.
• David Darlington and Matthew donated furniture to Bolton Hospice furniture store.
• Matthew and Fieldings Porter marked National Carers Week by delivering goodies to all the hard working carers at Cameron House Care Home, Spennymoor Care Home and Careline in Bolton, which were gratefully received.
• Fieldings Porter's Emma Savage and Matthew visited Bury Community Hub and Food Bank (Independent Food Aid Network) to deliver food donations from our staff to raise awareness of World Hunger Day. The Hub provides support all over Manchester and Lancashire.
• We donated a box of 20 golf umbrellas to Bolton Community Kitchen to give out to
their homeless clients to help them stay dry in our usual wet weather.
• Matthew has delivered nappies and toiletries donated by our firm to Urban Outreach Bolton, a Christian charity providing food for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable adults and young people in Bolton.
Martha, Fraser and Damian all completed their Cycle Challenge and raised £281 (including Gift Aid) for Lagan's Foundation, supporting families with children who have complex health needs.

NEW PARTNERS We are very pleased to appoint both David Darlington and Emma Manifold (neé Savage) to the partnership, effective from 1 May 2021. The professional and supportive way they deal with staff in their team and the firm as a whole were key factors in our decision.
The mix of my caseload enables me to have many different aspects to consider and challenges so it is rare that my day is ever the same as the day before. I still enjoy the feeling of achieving the right result or settlement for clients.
What’s the highlight of your career to date? I have been fortunate to be involved with many substantial cases but I was a part of a case which resulted in judicial review which
has shaped the way in which some youth cases are sentenced.
Also, achieving my personal ambition of becoming a Partner (my goal was always before I was 40).
If you weren’t a solicitor what would you be doing
I always had aspirations to work in the world of TV but I also obtained a qualification in Event Management and Planning after I qualified as a solicitor; so maybe a television presenter or wedding planner.
When you’re not working, we’d be most likely to find you?
At home with my family or somewhere by the sea. I can instantly relax when I hear the waves.
What is your favourite book?
I love to read autobiographies but any book by Sophie Kinsella always keeps me entertained.
Recommend a place to visit in Manchester/Bolton
I love going to the theatre so I would say Bolton Octagon or one of the theatres in Manchester. I cannot wait to get back inside the theatre.
